HAUS ST. ANTON is located in Nozawa in Nagano prefecture where the 1998 Winter Olympics Game were held. It is one of Japans most popular ski and hot spring resorts. MIKIO KATAGIRI ,the owner of HAUS ST.ANTON is a 2 time former Olympian who has been the head coach for the Japanese National ski team for 20years and is now the principal of the nozawaonsen ski school . As a skier he spent many years in St. Anton Austria and that is where the name and "image" of the hotel comes from. nozawa is the sister village of St. Anton Austria. In the 1998 NAGANO OLYNPICS the GERMAN TEAM who won the GOLD MEDAL for the ladies Biathlon relay and the ladies individual. (also Sliver and Bronze medals chose HAUS ST. ANTON to stay.)
It was because HAUS ST. ANTON is called "THE LUCKY HOUSE" amongst competitive skiers and ski demonstrators from around the world. They say that they are able to win or go home with their best score when they stay at HAUS ST.ANTON. The German team told many reporters that their success came from being able to relax and be in good condition physically. They said "Staying here at HAUS ST.ANTON helped us do that."
